Boron nitride in hexagonal form is commonly known as "white graphite", it is a white powder with the same hexagonal layered crystal structure as graphite. Its melting point is 3000°C at high pressure nitrogen, it sublimates and partially decomposes at 2500°C under normal pressure, and its theoretical density is 2.37g/cm³. Hexagonal boron nitride is a good conductor of heat and an electrical insulator, and has excellent chemical stability.
